Skin Cancer Diagnosis and Long Covid among top priorities at first PCN Event

Working together for the greater good of health and care in the community is central to Salford South East PNC’s mission.

So, on Wednesday, 1 November, we were excited to deliver the first of many PCN education and networking events in Salford. We know that we can only support the PNC in developing innovative and sustainable solutions through networking and learning from experts in person.

The event offered an exciting opportunity for Clinicians to connect and learn about progress and advances in different health themes.

Mr Ranjeet Jeevan MB BChir MA PhD (Cantab) FRCS (Plast) Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon shared insights and lessons learned about skin cancer diagnosis and the vital role of dermoscopy. His presentation included pathways to support early referral for more minor treatments, help clinicians identify and monitor high-risk patients, and promote the benefits of dermoscopy in primary care to improve skin cancer diagnosis.

Professor Nawar Bakerly, Consultant Respiratory Physician and Clinical LLead for Tier 4 LC service in Greater Manchester, spoke about research and lessons learned, including the most common presentations of Long COVID, those at most risk, diagnosis, treatment and managing patient expectations. Professor Nawar Bakerly also shared the goals of COPD therapy and the carbon impact of inhaler prescription.

We are thrilled to have covered so much ground during this event, and the success of the event is a testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone involved.

We are planning to organise additional PCN education and networking events. If you have any critical health topics that would be of significant benefit and interest to our PCN clinicians,
please don’t hesitate to contact Hayley Savvides, PCN Manager of Salford South East PCN.

Salford South East PCN is one of Salford’s largest primary care networks, with over 85,000 patients across 10 GP practices.
