More ways to get a GP appointment

Salford South East PCN expands its Enhanced Access Service.

Salford South East Primary Care Network patients can access weekend and evening appointments as part of their PCN Enhanced Access Service. The service launched back in October 2022 with the introduction of evening GP appointments until 8pm and has been offering Saturday appointments since January.

Many people work longer hours, and the evening and Saturday clinics will support patients needing more flexibility and choice with their healthcare appointments.

From Saturday, 16 September 2023, we will begin to offer cervical screening (smear) appointments.

Salford South East Primary Care Network Saturday clinic team

A total of 10 clinicians will be available to support patients at the new Saturday clinics, including:

  • 3 Nurses delivering vital cervical smear tests
  • 3 Health Care Assistants available to do blood tests and NHS health checks
  • 1 First Contact Practitioner who is a specialist in MSK
  • 3 Doctors creating extra GP capacity

“We know improving patient access to Clinicians and wider GP team is a top priority for patients. With over 200 more face-to-face appointments and additional capacity available, the introduction of our Saturday clinics marks a significant milestone in our mission to transform health and care in Salford South East.”
